To highlight the Anniversary of over 50 Brandon University (BU) researchers and several grad students being featured in the Research Connection section that is published regularly throughout the academic year, and the 50th year of BU chartering as a University, a collected edition of Research Connections were published in the “It’s All Happening at BU” magazine. The article features the ongoing research being conducted in partnership between Cypher Environmental and Dr. Hamid Mumin and his research team. Read for yourself, the ongoing efforts to engineer and design roads in Canada using local clay- rich materials and how the continued research is putting an end to dangerous road conditions on unpaved roads. We are pleased to have a positive, ongoing relationship with secondary institutes such as Brandon University and thank them for the professional and in depth work they have done and continue to conduct. When Base Plant Projects realized Syncrude’s road building material was in short supply, they teamed with Mildred Lake Mining to seek a solution. Did you know that the Alberta oil sands are the third-largest known source of crude oils in the world, next to Saudi Arabia and Venezuela? One of the largest producers of crude oil in Alberta is Syncrude. In 2011, Syncrude produced a considerable 105.3 million barrels of Crude Oil. Syncrude Canada Ltd. is one of the largest producers of crude oil from the oils sands in Canada. Based in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, Syncrude’s current capacity allows them to supply 15% of Canada’s petroleum requirements. In 2011, Syncrude produced 105.3 million barrels of Syncrude Crude Oil. In 2009, Syncrude was faced with a challenge – the sand and gravel they used for road building purposes was in short supply. They had to find an alternate solution that … Read More
The International Minerals Innovation Institute (IMII) is a unique industry-government-post-secondary education and research institution partnership jointly funded by industry and government. The Institute is a catalyst to developing industry-driven education and conducts industry-driven research and development to address several emerging issues in the mining industry. A major focus of the IMII’s initiatives is to not only to develop innovative technologies to help grow the mining industry, but also to help spur innovation that will help promote environmentally friendly solutions for the mining industry. As a result, Cypher Environmental was invited to participate in the latest IMII event on Friday, April 17, 2015 to help introduce the green mining solutions that Cypher has developed for the mining industry to the IMII members. Cypher Environmental has developed several green mining products such as our Dust Stop dust control solution, our Earthzyme soil stabilization treatment, and our Ultrazyme water treatment technology. Cypher recently had a presence at the 2014 China Mining Conference through its distributors, Beijing STS Instrument Co. Ltd. We are thrilled to have STS as a part of the Cypher team. As seen below, STS once again had the largest booth at the show, with a major portion dedicated to Cypher products! Please see the pictures below of the trade show and the great exhibits put on by STS. Frank Wang, CEO of STS, shows potential customers some EarthZyme stabilized soil cores. STS’s Engineer Liu Yunyun describing to customers the improved engineering properties of EarthZyme stabilized soil. A great display showing an example of the EarthZyme soil stabilization process. Views of the STS booth showcasing the Cypher line of green mining technologies.
Quito, located in northern Ecuador is the capacity of the country. In recent years, the city has experienced a substantial increase in population in certain parts of the city. Neighbourhoods were formed quickly to accommodate the rise in population before any formal city planning could take place. As a result, infrastructure in these parts of the city were lacking. Proper roads were not built and temporary dirt roads were formed as citizens found ways to get around. As part of its efforts to improve infrastructure in the city and to help improve living conditions for its citizens, the Municipality of Quito implemented soil stabilization on two major transport roads in the city in the summer of 2013. Cypher Environmental’s soil stabilizer product, EarthZyme was chosen for these two clay road stabilization projects. These two roads demonstrated increased density post application and 80 more applications have been scheduled for 2014. The detailed results … Read More

The Gobi Desert is a stretch of desert that covers an area of 1,295,000km2 and covers parts of northern and northwestern China and into southern Mongolia. The desert landscape makes the area more susceptible to trampling by livestock and off-road vehicles. In an effort to protect the natural desert environment and to ensure safe driving, Cypher’s EarthZyme soil stabilizer was applied to a stretch of coal mine haul road that hauls coal from Southern Mongolia into North China. This region of the desert is also blocked by the Himalaya Mountains which means it receives very little rainfall on an annual basis. This causes an extremely dry environment where dust suppression is necessary to ensure safe driving. The need for an effective dust control solution in this delicate environment required an environmentally-friendly solution that can control dust with minimal maintenance and re-application and a soil stabilizing effect that can withstand heavy … Read More
