Completing the Mining Cycle: Returning Land Back to its Original State

Recently, the Globe and Mail contacted Cypher Environmental for an interview on our work in mining reclamation and environmental safety.

In her article published earlier today, reporter Daina Lawrence spoke with Cypher President Todd Burns about how products such as DUST/BLOKR® are helping stop contamination. Titled “From wasteland to parkland: Mining greens up”, Lawrence’s story focuses on examines Goldcorp Inc.’s Coniaurum gold mine, which today, as she describes, “more closely resembles a putting green on a golf course than an old mine site.”

Lawrence notes that green mining doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor. The use of products like Cypher’s line are options that effectively protect surrounding areas from the impact of work in mines across Canada and around the world.

“That dust (on mining sites and hauling roads) can float kilometres away from the actual source and depending on what sort of minerals are in the dust … can create environmental issues and contamination of environmentally sensitive areas,” Burns told Lawrence.
